As you will have probably spotted, there is an election on in the UK. I’m hoping to say a lot more about this over the next few days, but I’m struggling a bit to find the time. But it is worth calling attention to the work of the Career Development Policy Group. This group is a coalition of careers sector organisations and stakeholders who campaign to influence policy.
The main proposal that the group has made is called the Career Guidance Guarantee. This argues that the next government needs to:
- Publish a careers strategy
- Finish the Gatsby revolution
- Challenge youth unemployment
- Ensure positive career outcomes from higher level education
- Support lifelong career development
- Ensure quality and professionalism
This is essentially the careers sector’s manifesto for the election so, I would encourage everyone to get behind it.
I have made a short explainer video to introduce the Career Guidance Guarantee. I hope that you find it useful.
